Drywood Termite Treatment

The Different Dry Wood Termite Treatments Based Upon The Situation

Drywood Termite Treatment

If you suspect a drywood termite infestation, you should call professional inspectors immediately. The thorough inspection of the whole place should be done properly. The result would tell you the level of inspection and the professionals would suggest you the proper solution to it. It is also advisable to contact various companies before taking the decision. Finally, you should decide that what would be an ideal solution for your problem to make drywood termite treatment.

If the whole structure is affected, then the ideal methods are:

FUMIGATION: this is one of the oldest methods. The whole building is kind of closed so that no air can escape. The Vikane or methyl bromide is used and spread inside the building. The whole gas disperses and reaches the affected areas. After the fumigation, the house should be properly aerated and fresh air should be circulated so that the harmful and toxic gases have escaped.

If a certain area or a compartment is affected, then the usual techniques are:

HEATING: this method is deployed where the infestation is in a certain area like the bathroom, or bedroom, etc. The room is then isolated with vinyl sheets. Large quantity of heat is provided by the propane heaters. The room is heated to high temperatures. As the termites and bugs are sensitive to higher temperatures, they are thus easily exterminated. Then the room is cooled down and can be reoccupied immediately.

EXCESSIVE COOLING: this method is used usually where the structure is very small. Liquid nitrogen gas is pumped into the area and the temperature level drops. After the achievement of the required temperature, the termites are killed. After the treatment, the level of oxygen must be checked.

For the local treatments, the methods are:

USE OF BORATES: the powdered or the borate sprays are used for the prevention of the attacks of the termites. They can also be used on the existing colony of termites but are more effective if used beforehand.

MICROWAVE TECHNOLOGY: this technology is used to a very small region of infestation. The microwave energy is applied on the affected part. Its limitation is that it requires fully accessed areas.

ELECTROCUTION: there are equipments, which are slowly passed over the infested surface. The low currents and the high currents electrocute the termites. The best thing about this method is that there is no worry of the amount of doses to be given.
Injecting in the wood: it is one of the oldest methods used in the places where the infestation is detectable. Holes are created and the pesticides are poured into it. This is the simplest method of all. The efficiency depends upon the level of infestation and the chemical used.

REPLACEMENT OF WOOD: this method includes changing the whole wood structure. It is done in the areas where infestation is on a smaller area. The affected structure should be easily detachable and not affecting the adjacent wooden items. Make sure that the neighboring structures are free from termites else they would also require replacement or treatment.
