DIY Termite Treatment

Termite is the word which can shake up a person’s calmness of mind. Though the termites are good for the environment and the ecological balance but are a big nuisance if they are in your house. They clear the rotten wood in the surroundings but there is a big difference between the wood of the rotten tree and the wood of your house.

The Do It Yourself (DIY) is the best and the simplest way to exterminate the termites from your house. They can be anywhere, wherever there is rotting wood. So the proper identification of them is very important. Here are some of the DIY termite treatment control tips:

1. The area all around the foundation of the house should be kept dry and free from moisture. This is one of the best preventive measures. The wood should be repaired if damaged. The small cracks in the house should be sealed up to restrict the entry of termites.

2. A very interesting approach to check the termite infestation in your house is by cardboard method. Place a wet cardboard box just on the boundary of your house. Observe it for a few days. If your house is infested, the termites will start feeding on the cardboard as the termites prefer the soft wood. So this tactic is extremely useful in identifying the infestation by the termites. Though it is a little slow and lengthy method, but it is an extremely reliable way.

3. You can choose the termite control stakes that are organic. They are safe and eco friendly. These are available at local stores. It works by laying a temiticide all around the foundation of the house. Make sure to change it time by the time. If there is no serious problem, then you should use this method rather than spending huge amounts.

4. If you find that there is something wrong. Then you should, firstly, try to recognize the stage of infestation. Based on the level of infestation, decision should be taken. If they extend of invasion is less, then you should try to solve it yourself, else call a professional. While doing it yourself, the pesticides are to be used after reading the proper reader’s manual. If it is more, then the professional exterminator should be considered who would make your house free from the pests like the termites, fleas, etc.

5. Another very important tip is that you should have a professional for a scheduled visit at your place. However, it is only required if you're living in a highly termite affected area. So you have to be more active regarding this problem living in coastal or humid areas.

So the most important thing to be remembered in DIY is that you would have to be regular. And everything is required to be done with proper management. As the prevention is a very important aspect. Spending a few dollars for the prevention are a very intelligent step rather than spending thousands of dollars on the cure. If the problem is under control, keep the preventive steps going on. If the problem persists and increases, then definitely a professional should be called upon.
